Every once in a while we come across an advocacy too compelling to ignore, specially when it comes to matters of humanities.

There is a simple mission here, to make the name Joseph Kony, a household name.

He might as well become some kind of a celebrity, if it was the only way for the world to know him so he can be stopped from abducting children making them soldiers or sex slaves. Over the course of 20+ years, he has abducted over 30,000 children.

And as if Kony's crimes aren't bad enough, he is not fighting for any cause, but only to maintain his power in his army called "Lord’s Resistance Army" or more commonly known as the LRA.

The perversity of Kony's crimes made him number 1 in the International Criminal Court's list of the world's worst criminals.

I urge you to not only listen to this story, but to also take some kind of action to put a stop to this monstrosity, not just because we have a duty to protect the children of the world, but also because it's the right thing to do.

Somewhere in a small province, there lived a young boy who would follow this route to school everyday: He has to cross rugged plains and pass along dangerous highway where vehicles recklessly drive by.

Across this highway, the boy would take a short cut, passing by the church every morning to say "Hi!" to God, and faithfully say his, "Good morning, God." A Priest was happy to observe this daily and found the sweet innocence uplifting.

"How are you John? Going to school?" "Yes, father," he would flash his innocent grin, and the priest would be touched. He was concerned about the boy and so one day he talked to John.

"From school," he advised "Do not cross the highway, you can pass through the church and I can accompany you to the other side of the road. That way I can see that you are home safe."

"Thank you father."

"Why don't you go home. Why do you stay in this church right after school?"

"I just want to say 'Hi' to my friend, God." And the priest would leave the boy to spend time beside the altar, talking to himself. One time, the priest hid behind the altar to listen to what the boy has to say to his Heavenly Father.

"You know my Math exam was pretty bad today, but I did not cheat although my seatmate was bullying me for notes. I ate one cracker and drank my water, papa had a bad season and all I can eat is this cracker.

Thank you for this! I saw a poor kitten who was hungry and I know how he feels so I gave my last cracker to him. Funny, but I am not that hungry.

Look, this is my last pair of slippers. I may have to walk barefoot next week, you see this is about to be broken. But it is okay, at least I am still going to school. Some say we will have a hard season this month, some of my classmates have already stopped going to school. Please help them get to school again, please God?

You know, mama hit me again, it is painful, but I know this pain will pass away, at least I still have a mother. God, you want to see my bruises? I know you can heal them, here, here and oh, blood. I guess you knew about this one, huh?

Please don't be mad at her, she is just tired and she worries for the food in our table and my schooling that is why she hits us. Oh, I think I am in love. There's this pretty girl in my class, her name is Anna. Do you think she will like me?

Anyway, at least I know you will always like me, I don't have to be anybody just to please you. You are my very best friend! Hey your birthday is two days from now! Aren't you excited? I am! Wait until you see, I have a gift for you. But it's a surprise! I hope you will like it! Oops, I have to go."

He stood up and calls out, "Father, father I'm finished talking to my friend. You can accompany me to the other side of the road now."

This routine happened everyday. John never failed. Father Mark shared this every Sunday to the people in the church because he has never seen such pure faith and trust in God, a very positive look at negative situations.

On Christmas day, father Mark was sick and couldn't make it to the Church, he was sent to the hospital. The church was left to devout Christian women who would chant the rosary so fast it was almost unrecognizable. They would not smile and seemed to always find faults in what others did. They were also very well-versed in cursing when irritated. They were kneeling, saying their rosary when John, coming from his Christmas party, excitedly dashing in.

"Hello God! I..."

"Shut up you obnoxious kid! Can't you see we're praying? Go away!"

Poor John was so terrified, "Where is father Mark? He is going to help me cross the street. But before that, I have to greet Jesus. It's His birthday, I have a gift right here."

He had tucked the gift inside his shirt, and just as he was about to show it, the old lady pulled him by his shirt and threw him out of the church.

"Go away or you'll get hurt!"

The boy had no choice but to cross the dangerous part of the road in front of the church.

As he was crossing, a fast moving bus was speeding by a blind curve.

The boy was protecting his gift inside his shirt, so he was not looking. There was so little time to run. He was hit, and John died on the spot.

Many people crowded the poor boy, lifeless and still.

Out of nowhere a tall man in a pure white shirt and pants, a face so mild and gentle, but with eyes full of tears. He came and carried the boy in His arms. He was crying. The curious bystanders nudged the man in white, and asked, "Excuse me sir, are you related to this child? Do you know this child?"

The man in white, His face mourning in agony, looked up and answered, "He was my best friend," was all he said. He took a badly wrapped gift in the bloody chest of the lifeless boy, and placed it near His heart.

He stood up and carried the boy away and they both disappeared in sight. Leaving the crowd wondering and curious.

On Christmas Eve, father Mark learned of the shocking news. He visited John's house, and wanted to talk to his parents and ask about the man in white.

"How did you know that your son died?" "A man in white brought him here," sobbed the mother.

"And what did he say?" Asked the priest.

The father answered, "He did not say anything. He was mourning. We do not know him and yet he was very lonely about our son's death, as if he knew our son very well. But there was something peaceful and unexplainable about him. He brushed my son's hair away from his face and kissed him on his forehead. Then he whispered something."

"What did he say?"

"He said to my boy," the father began, "Thank you for the gift. I will see you soon, you will be with me." The father of the boy continued, "And you know, for a while, it felt so wonderful. I cried, but I do not know why. All I know is I cried tears of joy. I could not explain it, but when that man left, something peaceful came over me. I felt a sense of love inside. I could not explain the joy in my heart. And I know my boy is in heaven now.

But tell me, father, who is this man that my son talks to everyday in your church, you should know because you're always there, except at the time of his death."

Father Mark suddenly felt tears welling in his eyes, with trembling knees, he murmurred, "At the church, he always talked to no one, but God."

2012: Are You Prepared?

The Mayan calender ends on the 21st of December 2012. A bunch of movies and books have been created having all those theories about how the world will end on that year, which created a world wide pandemic scare.

This article has long been idle in draft because I wanted sufficient time for research and study. And I wanted to write this carefully because I respect everyone's religious belief. This article however, is based on pure facts to try to make sense out of this rising pandemic scare.

So to begin with, I thought it was critical to study the Mayan calendar and its importance. The Maya believed time was cyclical instead of the western conception of a linear time. This means they thought that time repeated itself, therefore in knowing the past, they could predict the future. The question is, Were they really able to accurately calculate the beginning of the world to therefore accurately pinpoint the end to be on December 21st, 2012?

One proof of the Mayan accuracy is what's called the Venus Cycle. The Maya were excellent astronomers, and could calculate the Venus cycle with only a two-hour margin of error. They were able to achieve such accuracy by careful observation over many years. The Venus cycle was especially important because the Maya believed it was associated with war and used it to divine good times for coronations and war. Maya rulers even planned for wars to begin when Venus rose.

What is the Mayan Calendar?

The Maya calendar is a complex and highly developed system of calendars created by the Maya Civilization of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. These are series of calendars that include a sacred 260-day calendar, called the Tzol'kin, a 365-day calendar called the Haab, and 52-Haab cycle called the Calendar Round, which synchronised the Tzol'kin and Haab cycles.

The Tzol’kin

The Tzol'kin calendar combines twenty day names with thirteen numbers to produce 260 unique days. It was used to determine the time of religious and ceremonial events and for divination.

Divination

The Maya believed that each day of the Tzol’kin had a character that directly influenced events. The Maya had a shaman-priest, whose name meant day keeper, that read the Tzol’kin to predict the future. When a child was born, the day keeper would interpret the Tzol’kin cycle to predict the baby’s destiny. For example, a child born on the day of Ak’abal was thought to be feminine, wealthy, verbally skillful, possibly a cheat or complainer. The birthday of Ak’abal was also thought to give the child the ability to communicate with the supernatural world, so he or she might become a shaman-priest or a marriage spokesman. In the Maya highlands, babies were even named after the day they were born on.

Origin of the Tzol’kin

The exact origin of the Tzol’kin is yet to be known, there are several theories however. One theory is that the calendar came from mathematical operations based on the numbers thirteen and twenty, which were important numbers to the Maya. The number twenty was the basis of the Maya counting system, taken from the number of human fingers and toes. Thirteen symbolized the number of levels in the Upperworld where gods lived. The numbers multiplied together equal 260. Another theory is that the 260-day period came from the length of human conception or pregnancy. It is postulated that midwives originally developed the calendar to predict babies’ expected birth dates.

The Haab

The Haab was the Maya solar calendar made up of eighteen months of twenty days each and a five day month at the end of the year known as Wayeb or Uayeb that was called "the nameless days." Victoria Bricker estimates that the Haab was first used around 550 B.C.E. with the starting point of the winter solstice. The Haab was the foundation of the agrarian calendar and the month names are based on the seasons and agricultural events. For example the thirteenth month, Mac, may refer to the end of the rainy season and the fourteenth month, Kankin, may refer to ripe crops in the fall.

Wayeb

The five nameless days at the end of the calendar called Wayeb were thought to be a dangerous time. Lynn Foster writes that, "During Wayeb, portals between the mortal realm and the Underworld dissolved. No boundaries prevented the ill-intending deities from causing disasters." To ward off these evil spirits, the Maya had customs and rituals they practiced during Wayeb. For example, people avoided leaving their houses or washing or combing their hair.

The Long Count Calendar

There was also a Long Count calendar which started at [0.0.0.0.0] (with Maya record) on August 11, 3114 BC according to the "Goodman, Martinez-Hernandez, and Thompson" correlation (nicknamed "GMT"), the most widely accepted correlation between the Maya and Gregorian calendar. This cycle is 1,872,000 days in length, terminates on the Winter Solstice of (December 21) AD 2012 and is designated [13.0.0.0.0] or [0.0.0.0.0], since the Maya believed that time is somehow periodical. Another widely-used correlation, that of Lounsbury, correlates the start-day to August 13, 3114 BC and the terminal date to December 23, AD.

The End of the World

The turn of the great cycle is conjectured to have been of great significance to the Maya. According to the Popol Vuh, a sacred book of the Maya, the gods failed in making the perfect world in the first three worlds that were created. The fourth world would end in catastrophe. And the fifth and final world created would put an end to mankind. This is where the fear is coming from because the end of the Mayan calendar connotates this final world, end of mankind.

The Mayan calendar did not have the information as to how the world would end. It just has the date we know to be December of 2012.

So this led me to study some possible astronomical occurrences and facts of when the world would allegedly end. And it brought me directly straight to NASA.

Question: Are there any threats to the Earth in 2012? Many Internet websites say the world will end in December 2012.

NASA: Nothing bad will happen to the Earth in 2012. Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012.

Question: What is the origin of the prediction that the world will end in 2012?

NASA: The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth. This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012. Then these two fables were linked to the end of one of the cycles in the ancient Mayan calendar at the winter solstice in 2012 -- hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012.

Question: Could a phenomena occur where planets align in a way that impacts Earth?

NASA: There are no planetary alignments in the next few decades, Earth will not cross the galactic plane in 2012, and even if these alignments were to occur, their effects on the Earth would be negligible. Each December the Earth and sun align with the approximate center of the Milky Way Galaxy but that is an annual event of no consequence.

Question: Is there a planet or brown dwarf called Nibiru or Planet X or Eris that is approaching the Earth and threatening our planet with widespread destruction?

NASA: Nibiru and other stories about wayward planets are an Internet hoax. There is no factual basis for these claims. If Nibiru or Planet X were real and headed for an encounter with the Earth in 2012, astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye. Obviously, it does not exist. Eris is real, but it is a dwarf planet similar to Pluto that will remain in the outer solar system; the closest it can come to Earth is about 4 billion miles.

Question: What is the polar shift theory? Is it true that the earth’s crust does a 180-degree rotation around the core in a matter of days if not hours?

NASA: A reversal in the rotation of Earth is impossible. There are slow movements of the continents (for example Antarctica was near the equator hundreds of millions of years ago), but that is irrelevant to claims of reversal of the rotational poles. However, many of the disaster websites pull a bait-and-shift to fool people. They claim a relationship between the rotation and the magnetic polarity of Earth, which does change irregularly, with a magnetic reversal taking place every 400,000 years on average. As far as we know, such a magnetic reversal doesn’t cause any harm to life on Earth. A magnetic reversal is very unlikely to happen in the next few millennia, anyway.

Question: Is the Earth in danger of being hit by a meteor in 2012?

NASA: The Earth has always been subject to impacts by comets and asteroids, although big hits are very rare. The last big impact was 65 million years ago, and that led to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Today NASA astronomers are carrying out a survey called the Spaceguard Survey to find any large near-Earth asteroids long before they hit. We have already determined that there are no threatening asteroids as large as the one that killed the dinosaurs. All this work is done openly with the discoveries posted every day on the NASA NEO Program Office website, so you can see for yourself that nothing is predicted to hit in 2012.


Question: Is there a danger from giant solar storms predicted for 2012?

NASA: Solar activity has a regular cycle, with peaks approximately every 11 years. Near these activity peaks, solar flares can cause some interruption of satellite communications, although engineers are learning how to build electronics that are protected against most solar storms. But there is no special risk associated with 2012. The next solar maximum will occur in the 2012-2014 time frame and is predicted to be an average solar cycle, no different than previous cycles throughout history.

As a matter of fact, NASA categorically denies all theories of an end of the world in the year 2012. NASA Space Scientist, David Morrison, talks about this issue.

After doing all researches and studies for this article, I still have that question, "What if?" And are those NASA answers already sufficient enough to put your mind at ease?

This part is where our faith comes in. We have to believe that something greater out there who created the universe and everything else, has that same power to destroy it, but that in the end, everything is for a greater good. And that everything is going to be alright.

Art Bell

This was not the first time I read this post. And I remember feeling really bad about it. Then I saw it again earlier this afternoon posted in FB.

It was easy getting upset about an article written as a direct attack to the reputation that Filipinos worked very hard for.

So I took the liberty to search Google for this "Art Bell" character who I absolutely knew nothing about. Except for the initial impression that he thoroughly despised the Filipino as a race.

Google returned my queries with pictures of a matured man married to a young Filipina which aroused my curiosity even more.

A foreigner married a woman from a race that he hates?

Wheels in my head started to spin from excitement of an unfolding mystery.

From Wikipedia:

"Arthur W. "Art" Bell, III (born June 17, 1945) is an American broadcaster author, known primarily as one of the founders and original host of the paranormal-themed radio program Coast to Coast AM.

He also created and formerly hosted its companion show, Dreamland. Semi-retired from Coast to Coast AM since 2003, he hosted the show many weekends for the following four years. He announced his retirement from weekend hosting on July 1, 2007, but occasionally "guest hosts." He attributed the reason for this latest retirement to a desire to spend time with his wife and new daughter, born May 30, 2007. He added that unlike his previous "retirements," this one will stand, while leaving open the option to return. Classic Bell-hosted episodes of Coast to Coast AMcan be heard in some markets on Saturday nights under the name Somewhere in Time.

Bell founded and was the original owner of Pahrump, Nevada-based radio station, KNYE 95.1 FM. His broadcast studio and transmitter were located at his home in Pahrump while he hosted Coast to Coast AM except from June to December 2006, at which time he lived in the Philippines."

I read further and realized his previous wife was also half-Filipina. It was easy to think he might have written that letter out from outburst from a dispute he might have had with his wife.

I probed further and stumbled across this relatively old blog entry entitled, "Art Bell’s Alleged Hate Letter to the Filipino People." (Click here for the full blog entry)

This was the letter allegedly written by "Art Bell" that circulated the net circa 1996:

“As we’ve all come to notice, in the past few decades, Filipinos have begun to infest the United States like some sort of disease. Their extensive involvement in the U.S. Armed Forces is proof of the trashy kind of qualities all Filipinos tend to exhibit on a regular basis. You can see this clearly by studying the attitudes and cultural Icons of most Filipino Americans.

Are they really Asian? Well we’ve come to accept the fact the Filipinos come from a part of the world known as South East Asia. But the term “Asia” is used in the wrong way. You may notice that contemporary Filipino Americans try very hard to associate themselves with groups that we know as Asian. I cannot count the number of times I have seen a ‘ Third World ‘ Filipino try to connect themselves to the Chinese or Japanese people. There is no connection and here’s why. The Philippines is a Third World country. Nothing respectable has EVER been created by Filipino people during our entire human history. Young Filipino men in America have become obsessed with “import racing”. They have an enormously perverted affection for Japanese cars. It’s a common phenomenon. In their minds, these Filipinos somehow believe that they are Asian and that it somehow connects them to Japanese people and Japanese cars. They often take credit for the ingenuity of Japanese people and say how it’s an “Asian thing”. This term…”Asian thing” derived directly from African American slang “black thang.” “It’s a black thang.” “It’s an Asian thang.”

You can see the connection. It’s even funnier that, in Japan, Filipinos are heavily discriminated against. The only Filipinos that can live successfully in Japan are the Filipino prostitutes. But that’s the case for most Filipino people no matter where they live in the world. Now we’ve come down to this fact…and it is a fact.

Nothing in Filipino Culture can be seen as Asian. They have no architectural, artistic, or cultural influence which is in any way, Asian. Thinking of the great countries in Asia such as Japan , Korea , and China there is no way you can possibly connect the Philippine Islands. This assault by Filipino Americans to connect themselves with the great peoples of North East Asia is foul and disgusting. Try visiting a young Filipino’s web site too.

You’ll see something called the “Asian IRC Ring”. It has to do with the chat rooms. The most horrible thing about this is that these TRASHY people are trying to associate themselves with Asia again!! People in Asia don’t act like this at all. What we are seeing here is the natural Filipino in its element with full access to technology and this is how they act! You will consistently see this behavior over and over again.

Another interesting thing is that these “third world” people also frequent RC chat rooms such as Chinese, Japan and Asian. They must believe that they are somehow related racially or culturally to North Asians. But it’s completely WRONG! There might have been some distant contact With China and even less with Japan during World War II, but these people are actually more closely related to African Americans and Mexican Americans.

Do the parents of these young Filipinos know what’s going on? Would they accept this? I believe that they would and do. This is the natural “Trash” element in Filipinos manifesting itself. Nothing good has ever come from Philippines and I don’t believe anything good ever will.

Recognizing your Roots (A Message to Filipinos). To all Filipino people: Please recognize your ROOTS! You come from the Third World ! You country is a disgusting and filthy place. Most people there live in poverty! Your culture has MUCH MORE SPANISH influence than Chinese, and absolutely no JAPANESE influence whatsoever. People in Japan and China , d o not act like you. They do not constantly talk about sex and they have a MUCH HIGHER level of RESPECT for each other. There is NO WAY that you can connect yourself to Asia other than location.

Your culture and technological advancement does no! t even come CLOSE to What Chinese, people have done in the past and what Japanese and Korean people are doing now! Everything you do is distinctly Filipino. You cannot take credit for Japanese cars, video games, or Hentai! It’s not an “Asian thing” it’s an “American thing”. You have no concept of culture…no concept of Asian ideas or Asian philosophy! Can you demonstrate how you use Confucianism or Taoism in you everyday life?? You can’t. And you will NEVER be able to.

I understand that you are trying to create an identity for yourselves as young people… but it is NOT related to Asia. Your Identity is Filipino.

That’s all you are. Just Filipino. Think about what that means."

"Relocation to the Philippines

At the same time, Bell announced he would be leaving his longtime homestead in Nevada and relocating to the Philippines, near Makati, Metro Manila, intending to continue hosting Coast to Coast AMweekend editions via an ISDN connection. He departed the United States on April 29, 2006, stating an intention to remain abroad for at least a year, while maintaining ownership of his property in Nevada and of the radio station KNYE. Bell resumed hosting on June 18, 2006 but then encountered technical problems that kept him off air until July 23, 2006, when the ISDN line was finally installed.

In July 2001, the Philippine Daily Inquirer printed an email letter purportedly from Bell that made derogatory statements about Filipinos. This letter was subsequently demonstrated to be a hoax perpetrated upon Bell, who in fact had a publicly loving relationship with his Filipina wife and his previous wife Ramona, who was also Filipina, and who often spoke openly about his admiration for the Filipino people on his radio show. Subsequently, the Philippine Daily Inquirer printed a retraction and apologized for printing the statement upon their verification of the hoax. This slander against Bell's good name still periodically results in serious threats to him when this material surfaces from time to time.

On February 19, 2009 the Manila Times apologized and retracted when a columnist mistakenly reprinted the hoax two days before; one email the paper received attributed the original slander to a Filipino-American student at San Jose State University during the 1990s.

In October 2006, Bell threatened Rogers Cadenhead with a lawsuit for some allegedly libelous comments posted on Cadenhead's blog, which Cadenhead has said he will defend himself against under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act."

Another event in the seemingly never ending strange series of events in my life occurred, which will prevent me from being on the air this week. A horrible Racist article which has been on the Internet for almost three years, despite all our best efforts, has just been published by the Philippine Daily Inquirer (The largest circulation Newspaper in that country). This has resulted in hundreds of e-mails and death threats to me and my family. Even the slightest effort on their part, would have resulted in the truth before rushing to publish. The article appeared in the Entertainment section of the Sunday edition (July 1, 2001).

As many of you I hope are aware, I DID NOT WRITE this trash and never would, in fact my wife is half Filipino. It was originally sent from a computer located at U.C.S.D. in southern California. They have sent a apology which has been posted on this website (see below) for almost three years. Over that period of time EVERY inquiry has been answered by myself, my Webmaster and the Network."

We are presently taking all legal steps possible, however in the meantime there is a very real physical danger to my family and myself. This will require my full time attention for the moment. The Newspaper (as of this writing) still, has NOT published a Retraction, even though they have been served with a Demand Letter to do so.

Calderon Dolphins Killing Festival in Denmark

I thought of Denmark as a lovely country with wonderful people. But this is just completely disappointing, to say the least.

As unbelievable as it is, even today this custom continues, in Dantesque, in the Faroe Islands, Denmark. A country supposedly civilized and seemingly first class. No one does anything to prevent this savagery and cruelty committed against the Calderons, intelligent dolphins that are placid. They approach humans out of friendliness.

First time I saw this I thought it was oil leakage.

Then I looked closer. Hundreds of the famous and intelligent Calderon dolphins lay savagely slaughtered, soaked in their own pool of blood.

This happens every year in Faroe Islands in Denmark . This killings' main participants are young men. It's a tradition, a right of passage for young men entering adulthood.

In this big "celebration" no one is missing the fun. Everyone is participating, killing, or watching the savagery.

The Calderon dolphins, like all other species of dolphins are near extinction. They get near man, to play and interact in a way of pure friendship.

Here, man cut them out with thick hocks. The dolphins produce a grim sound, resembling a cry of a new born child.

He slaughters the calderon with no compassion.

Hundreds are piled, dead.

One final blow to the head.

My heart goes out to these poor, innocent dolphins.

This is a cultural tradition. And while I am not in the position to influence what they should, or should not do, these dolphins are on the brink of extinction. That is a fact that needs to be emphasized. And I think dolphin slaughter transcends cultural issues. It is plain savagery and cruelty most unlike cultural diets and customs such as what we do with cattles or poultries which are not endangered species, neither are they slaughtered for fun or rites of passage.

I fear that we will see many marine species on the extinct list, including these Calderon dolphins if this kind of tradition continues.
