I Look To You

Faith | Amalgamations of Peter Paul

I Look To You

As I lay me down
Heaven hear me now
I'm lost without a cause
After giving it my all

Winter storms have come
And darkened my sun
After all that I've been through
Who on earth can I turn to?

I look to you
I look to you
After all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

About to lose my breath
There's no more fighting left
Sinking to rise no more
Searching for that open door
And every road that I've taken
Led to my regret
And I don't know if I'm gonna make it
Nothing to do but lift my head

I look to you
I look to you
After all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

My levee's have broken
My walls have come
Tumbling down on me
The rain is falling
Defeat is calling
I need you to set me free

Take me far away from the battle
I need you to shine on me

I look to you
I look to you
After all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

I look to you
I look to you

Fix You

Friday, June 8, 2012

All it takes is for one person to believe in what you can do.
Resilience | Amalgamations of Peter Paul

"Fix You"

When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down on your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down on your face
And I...

Tears stream down on your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down on your face
And I...

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

The Hillsong Inspiration

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Darlene Zschech - http://www.darlenezschech.com/ | Amalgamations of Peter Paul

The Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia, is a congregation of 17,000 plus members. After two decades, Hillsong branched into the gospel music industry. Soon followed music pastor Reuben Morgan's solo debut, World Through Your Eyes, released in November of 2004, and a slew of other releases, including Unified Praise, Jesus Is My Superhero, and Christmas, featuring Hillsong starlet Darlene Zschech as well as Brooke Fraser.

The worship team at Hillsong Church is led by Darlene Zschech, writer of "Shout To The Lord." Darlene works with a dedicated group of singers and musicians who week in and week out give their time and energy to lead their church into an atmosphere of worship. It is this dedication that is reflected on the albums.

The songs, "Through It All" which Darlene sang, and another one entitled, "Still" are my two 'Epiphanies' because the story about how I came to know Hillsong through these two songs is one of faith that I truly hold dearly in the heart.

In the place where I used to rent internet service to communicate with my sister, where they always played loud and wild music, one day played a song that struck a chord. The melody stuck in my head and I found myself humming to it until I got home.

The next opportunity I got to go online I tried Googling words I could remember in the lyrics. A Google result directed me to a YouTube video.

Unperturbed, despite a noisy internet cafe, I held the headset closely to my ears and basked in the words of worship. And as tears flowed, a deep sense of safety and security seemed to hover and descend on me like an overwhelmingly comforting embrace that lifted sadness and worries away. It didn't matter if I was in tears in a public cafe. Nothing mattered because I am carried in 'everlasting arms'.

It's been many years since I've gotten to know Hillsong, but I wish I had known them sooner. And until now, these songs "Through It All" and "Still" are the two songs I go to for comfort during troubled times. Today, is no different.

I am writing this blog with the hope that one day, Darlene Zschech can read my message to her. Thank you, Ms. Darlene Zschech for the tremendous light of inspiration and comfort you have showed me, as I'm sure many others.

My troubled times are nothing to the sacrifice made out of faithfulness He did for all of us. And your songs brightly reflect that truth. Thank you for the gift of songs you are sharing to the world through the wonderful gift that the Lord has so graciously given you and your team.

May you reach the farthest corners of earth to spread the word of God's everlasting arms and mend broken faith and shattered hopes. May God bless you always.

Love and prayers,

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Jotta A. singing Amazing Grace | amalgamationspp.com

During times of sadness, I sit down and pray for healing and guidance. The moment I close my eyes, cover my ears and just open my heart, God makes His presence known through messages.

Messengers are anything or anyone, from family, close friends, or even complete strangers. Tonight, God sent me this message of amazing grace through this young boy.

I froze in my seat, closed my eyes and opened my heart as I listened. The boy's words weren't clear English, but I knew I clearly understood the message when tears started rolling down my cheeks.

Open your heart, let Him come in, and He'll heal you.

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

[2x]
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

Thank you, Jotta for the inspiration. Truly, you are blessed.

100%

Friday, October 8, 2010

From a strictly mathematical viewpoint, what equals 100%?

What does it mean to give more than 100%?

Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100% in what they do?

How about achieving 101%?

What equals 100% in life?

If A to Z is represented as

A = 1
B = 2
C = 3

Et cetera until Z = 26,

H – A – R – D – W – O – R – K
8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11 = 98%

K – N – O – W – L – E – D – G – E
11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5 = 95%

But,

A – T – T – I – T – U – D – E
1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5 = 100%

It doesn't end there. Look at how much farther you can go.

L – O – V – E       O – F       G – O – D
12+15+22+5      15+6+      7+15+4 = 101%

We can conclude with mathematical certainty, that while hard work and knowledge will get you close, and attitude will get you there, it's the love of God that will put you over the top.

And where do we start? We start of course with ourselves. Like everybody else, you and me, we are never perfect, no one is. So don't pretend to be, you're only fooling yourself. Admit your mistakes so then you can think of ways to make amends. Decide when it's not too late yet. The good news though is, nothing is ever too late in the eyes of God. So even if it's too late in others' eyes, you can still make things right. Begin with a change in attitude as you see right, and include a pocketful of prayers while you're at it, to get to the top 101%.

A Prayer For You

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Today Lord, my sister will undergo a knee surgery. I ask that you keep her faith in You stronger than ever. May you lay your healing hands upon her and make her well again. May You continue bestowing blessings upon us and for all, everyday of our lives. This I pray in Your Name.

Amen.

A Letter to Myself

Monday, September 27, 2010

Dearest Peter Paul,

Aside from the tower fan eerily moving from side to side, everything and everyone else is already fast asleep. It's past 2 a.m. Why did you wake up sweating again?

Are you not going back to sleep? You have work at 7 in the morning.

Oh, so I guess that's it again, huh?

Well, you can't say I wasn't with you all along. Since that time you came back from Manila in March, your self importance and self respect has never been the same. For almost all those times, it had just been you and me. I've seen you get sad, upset until such time you got frustrated, depressed, de-motivated, to now, when you just got too tired to get out of bed in the morning to prepare for work.

For what it's worth, you were there to help build that company from ground zero. You were there to see it lift off successfully. You were there to see it actually do well as a small business. And for some time, that made you happy.

But where are you now? Where has it lead you being always there for your job but your job not being fulfilling for you?

I have lost you.

I barely know you from who you have become.

You became sickly and indolent, pretending to be happy but depressed all these months, bitter. Since when did you become a slave of the job that didn't give you importance and self-respect? Since when did you become so stubborn to stay where you've obviously been so unhappy?

And until when are you going to do this to yourself?

I say, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. I admire your resilience which some people have obviously abused down to the last beating. I admire the fact that through thick nostrils and countless sleepless nights, you go to work late, but still manage to work 9, 10, 15 hours a day, no extra pay required, to do your part in helping the continued success.

But the time to wake up has come. It is rightful that you woke up very early today.

I understand your excitement and enthusiasm to end all that is evil that got in the workplace that has now made everyone look bad. And like you, I am fervently hoping for a positive outcome so that jobs may be kept, precious people may choose to stay and for your self-respect to regain.

Sincerely,

Footprints in the Sand

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Though I'm not a very pious person, I fervently believe in the power of God. During the lowest and saddest times, no one should think they're alone.

Footprints in the Sand

Last night I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonged to me, the other to the Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it. “Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”

The Lord replied, “My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of suffering, when you could see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

Drought

Saturday, May 1, 2010

So it's been a long while since I last posted an entry that makes sense here.

I have some spare time in my hands these days but can't seem to get that "creative juice" spilling.

It's hard to want to try writing things down when the mind and heart is not into it.

Creative writing after all, is a passion; where the heart and mind run parallel and does not contradict each other.

Oh, well..

Saturday, April 10, 2010

I feel guilty not being able to write anything for weeks now.

You'd think the craziness at work would mellow down eventually. But it only got worse. Although I am happy to see the company we started out now growing steadily. But it takes a lot out from everybody. We barely have time for anything else other than work.

Good thing now I can steal some time out to open my blogger and actually write somethings down in here after weeks of husling and bustling.

It's been a frustrating month.

It started when mama left again for the U.S. I'm left alone to take care of everything at home. And as if that wasn't enough, I decided to adopt guinea pigs. 3 of them! Just before she left. Poor little darlings didn't survive a month in my care.

It turned out, they need sensitive health care. It was tough losing the 2 boys. But even tougher losing my little sweet Lilo. She was pregrant. She really tried to survive. But after Johnny Bravo died, she started missing her meals. And I got sick with a terrible flu and I guess she got that.

She got sick for a couple of days and just as I was getting well, she got worse. She wouldn't eat anything and sneezed a lot.

I mouth-fed her like how articles in the internet showed. I gave her oral fluids too and it all didn't work. So again, I was just looking at her dying, just like how it was with Stitch and Johnny Bravo when they died.

And then prior that I found out some frustrating stuff at work that completely bothers me until now.

So! That's how my past few weeks had been. How had yours been? Hopefully not as hectic and frustrating?

Busy Bee

Sunday, March 21, 2010

God bless you, mama. I'll see you again soon.

I've been wanting to post an entry for weeks now and I'm sad not having been able to update anything in my blog lately. Been really occupied these past weeks.

Mama has left for the U.S. the other day and once again I have to do all the housekeeping chores by myself.

It's going to get lonely at home with just me and the guinea pigs. But there's always my job to keep me company, and of course facebook, and blogger.

I'm off to lunch. I'll be making more blog entries these days. But until then, take care.

God bless.

Dear God,

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

You've most likely already read my Facebook status tonight which says, "Peter Paul F. Gil wants to vanish in thin air."

I'm having that moment again, when at the end of the day I'd have to face myself and evaluate the things that happened during the past few days that aren't "pleasant" to say the least.

I choose to stay optimistic through tough times. And I guess that attitude gets easily exploited by some. The going gets too tough sometimes and the pain lingers, unless probably if I just vanished and disappear. It's so sad how things are going.

There are still many things to be thankful for. And I guess it's through tough times like these when I most need a clear mind to make good and sound decisions. Please help me stay humble and give me the strength to carry on.

So please help me, God.

Man on the Mirror

Sunday, January 31, 2010

If you could draw a perfect face for yourself in the mirror, how would you look like?

Are you gonna look like one of those male or female models with perfectly gorgeous faces and sparkling smiles?

At some point we all wish to be somebody else. Perhaps somebody popular or wealthy or whoever that may be. Point being that we don't like ourselves enough. Or we feel like we're just not entirely who we want to be.

I guess I'm writing this post to remind myself that I am exactly who I should be. You too, dear reader. And everybody else.

Insecurities prevent us from showing the beautiful person who we really are. They are borders that imprison everything good in us.

Like for example this friend in college whose got talent in singing but didn't want to join competitions because he thought he was too fat to be seen by an audience.

There were times at work too that I just wanted to give everything to my assistant for completion because I felt I already had too many tasks in my hands, undermining my ability and skill to multi-task with speed and precision.

Drawing the line between always being at the top of what you do best and wanting to be laid back and be simple, can help you overcome some of your insecurities. And finding the balance between the two is where you can find your real contentment and happiness. Going through that won't be easy but it's definitely going to help you discover who you are as a person and what you really want to become.

So would you still draw a different face when you have that moment to look at the mirror? If your answer is still yes, and your attitude towards life is always wanting to be somebody else, then you'll never be contented. "A self-centered man is a discontented man."

Your attitude may not be enough to define who you are as a person but it will define whether you will become a happy person or a sad person when you're old.

Mr. Piano Man

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Definition of Music
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"How to define music has long been the subject of debate; philosophers, musicians, and, more recently, various social and natural scientists have argued about what constitutes music..."

"Music may be defined according to various criteria including organization, pleasantness, intent, social construction, perceptual processes and engagement, universal aspects or family resemblances, and through contrast or negative definition."
I searched Wikipedia for the definition of music in an attempt to explain how it feels everytime I hear live piano playing. Like when I was listening to this piano man play the piano at the mall earlier this afternoon.

I always feel an unexplainable captivation when I hear the sound of a piano playing. The melodies, no matter what song it plays, seem to wrap my heart with gladness and awe for the sense of serenity I feel by listening to it. It's reminiscent of everything calm, happy and peaceful.

I never even had to know what the songs were, yet I felt the kind of happiness you feel when you're completely contented.

The kind of happiness where you feel like nothing can ruin your day. The kind of happiness you feel when that special someone says nothing yet tells you everything in a single smile.

It felt weird standing there yet feeling like I was on top of the world looking at the breathtaking view from the top of everything that defines happiness.

I remembered back when I was in 4th grade asking my mom if I could take piano lessons. Only to get a disappointing response, "If only we had the resources and the means."

This is the one passion I have that completely and literally slipped through.

I just feel like I missed the opportunity that I potentially could be very good at.

It makes me sad.

Yet I know music is just always around to give a sense of comfort and security when I need it. And this is perhaps the most befitting definition of music.

In my dictionary, I'd like to define music simply as, a pocket-size, portable friend that gives inspiration even through darkest times.

It probably won't matter much, but know that you can never lose music. It's always around. So during times of tribulations, reach into your pocket, find that music that inspires. You'll get by.

Smile!

Saturday, January 16, 2010

There are many reasons to be sad about but there's that one reason to smile. I'm swept away. Find your reason to smile. =)

Long and Winding Road

Friday, January 15, 2010

It's been a long and winding day at work today. I wish I had more vitality and strength to continue working. It's frustrating to think tons of work will be waiting for me on Monday. Oh well. It reminded me of this old Beatles song.

"Half Full"

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Seems half empty.

So I come to this point again where I just want to stop what I've been routinely doing. Either I've grown tired of it, or just plainly because I want to try out new things with the hope that things can only get better.

"But what if it won't get any better?"

Then I get stuck with the decision, whether to go or to stay. For many, it's perhaps easier to stay, others find it easier to let go.

Me?

It used to be easy letting go. Those times when I felt I had the world at my fingertips, what I didn't like, either I let go, or I left behind.

I did not care.

Things are always easy that way. Throwing away stuff without first figuring out their value.

Family. Friends. Career. Self.

I threw away many things thinking I was cleaning a clutter, only to find out in the end there's nothing left to organize and put into place. I became empty.

But the world is merciful and it gives you countless chances of happiness when you open yourself to sacrifices and pain.

The only way to feel warmth is when you come in from the battering cold. The only way to experience happiness is when you've fought and overcome a painful sadness. The only way you see the sun is when you've survived the night.

I don't think it can be taught other than experiencing it first-hand. There are lucky ones who never had to lift a finger to experience the abundance of this materialistic world. And I've always wondered about their definition of happiness.

Does it also make them happy when someone smiles at them while talking about their busy day at work? Or when someone wipes away their tears when talking about a bad past? Or when someone smiles at them and whisper the words, "I love you"? Or does their happiness always come with a pricetag?

I don't want my definition of love to change. I've always defined it as, the freedom to care and sacrifice unconditionally for someone worth it. I like it simple, clear and priceless.

Life has never been easy. I endured years of regret before God gave me the grace to be able to make sound decisions to not have regrets. He punished me with tasks I thought would mark my death. God gave me one reason to smile only after He gave me a billion reasons to cry. And that's more than enough for me. I found that spark to guide me through this dark journey.

So I went back to look at the glass that's half empty.

I'm living life. And with that spark shining to guide me, I can make it. I'll make the most of what I have. Even if I don't have plenty, I have enough. You'll see me smiling, when I get to You.

So I decided. The glass isn't half empty at all, it's just half full.
