If One Day.. | Amalgamations of Peter Paul

If one day you feel like crying..
call me.

I don't promise you that I will make you laugh..
But i can cry with you.

If one day you want to run away..
don't be afraid to call me.
I don't promise to ask you to stop..
But i can run with you.

If one day you don't want to listen to anybody..
call me..
I promise to be very quiet.

But..
If one day you call and there is no answer..
Come fast to see me..

Perhaps i need you.

"Friend" | Amalgamations of Peter Paul

There comes a time in life when you will run out of options, but one will always remain open no matter what; burn the bridge, and leave everything behind as the only way to keep trekking forward.

Goodbyes are just too hard to manage, like it rips your heart apart and you're paralyzed beyond explanation.

If you are reading this, you know who you are, this is the end of the road of this twisted relationship, but you will remain a perfect memory in my world. And in my mind, there is nothing more precious than what we shared.

Thank you for the temporary strength you gave me, it's enough for me to carry on.

Take care,

"You Were There"

Time passes, the world changes
But I'm still the same ole' kid
And your jokes still bring me laughter
As if you still were here
And it hurts
When I smile
'Cause my heart still remembers
When you were around

'Cause you were there
When no one was
Just when I thought nobody cared
You showed me love
'Cause you were my friend
You always told me
And I am still here
Because you were there

So precious, small treasures
A time when truth was innocent
True friendship, was all we were after
A place where kids could still be kids
And it hurts
But I'm glad
'Cause at least I was blessed
To have you as my friend

[HOOK]

You're my best friend
There are no accidents
God has a plan for everyone
And he brought you in my life
To show me what a good friendship was

"Guardian" | Amalgamations of Peter Paul

I've been putting off blogging for quite sometime now. With all the chaos that's been going on, I can't hold anything in my head for more than 2 seconds.

There are times when I just want to go and run away somewhere far where nobody knows me.

But there's no escaping heartache. I am human too, and no matter how many things I do to occupy my mind, this feeling of loneliness is always going to haunt me no matter where I go, no matter how I try to pretend I'm okay.

Appa has been an angel. I've said it several times, he's the only stable relationship I ever had, and he's the one keeping me sane these days.

Yesterday, I spent the whole day with only this on my playlist.

Thank you, Alanis.

And thank you, God.

In times I feel most vulnerable, you always send something to remind me You're there and that I'm not alone. But this solitary world becomes just too unbearable sometimes that even crying becomes a blissful solitude.

Is this all the journey I have in life? I know everybody's telling me to trust You every time doubt creeps in, but I feel like my time is running out, and I can't seem to hold on to that happiness. Surely, there's something greater for me, isn't there? Please show me, before I lose all the good I have left in me.

Joseph Kony

Joseph Kony | www.amalgamationspp.com

Every once in a while we come across an advocacy too compelling to ignore, specially when it comes to matters of humanities.

There is a simple mission here, to make the name Joseph Kony, a household name.

He might as well become some kind of a celebrity, if it was the only way for the world to know him so he can be stopped from abducting children making them soldiers or sex slaves. Over the course of 20+ years, he has abducted over 30,000 children.

And as if Kony's crimes aren't bad enough, he is not fighting for any cause, but only to maintain his power in his army called "Lord’s Resistance Army" or more commonly known as the LRA.

The perversity of Kony's crimes made him number 1 in the International Criminal Court's list of the world's worst criminals.

I urge you to not only listen to this story, but to also take some kind of action to put a stop to this monstrosity, not just because we have a duty to protect the children of the world, but also because it's the right thing to do.

Appa: My Beacon of Inspiration | www.amalgamationspp.com

It's been an unbelievably long blog hiatus and I terribly miss blogging!

I looked at my last entry -- December 5, just a few weeks before Christmas. Where do I even begin to start writing again?

Well, the biggest reason of the extended hiatus was tropical storm Sendong that drowned the city of Cagayan de Oro. Between helping with the volunteer works, trying to continue to keep working, fetching water from far sources, it's been really tough trying to balance everything much less to even try and get a decent sleep while friends are going crazy looking for their drowned relatives and friends.

Many things had to be done because of the wide impact of the storm.

Thousands died.

All the while, I watched heroism at work coming from familiar faces, persons I see everyday right across the street, simple neighbors who stood up and did anything to help.

It was a rare opportunity that I am very honored to be able to see and be a part of, where people opened their homes to strangers whose houses drifted away with the raging flood leaving them only the clothes they wore.

I felt the strength of prayers binding everyone to hold on because there's hope pouring in from all over the globe. It was surreal.

Three months later, people have picked up the pieces and have begun reconstructing their lives. The loss of a friend, or a family member is heart-breaking, but people here have opened their eyes and have seen that despite the difficulties and the trials, hope is not something that can be washed away by a destructive flood or storm.

It is something far greater and bigger.

And for me, through it all, one great bestfriend opened the door to keep the positive attitude despite bad things that can happen. A bestfriend who listens and does not talk back, who loves unconditionally and with no limit, who looks at me everyday without fail having a sense of belonging and connection.

And that's really all I need to get by any storm.

Stay inspired! ♥

The Jonah Mowry Inspiration

Jonah Mowry | www.amalgamationspp.com

This is Jonah Mowry. You'd want to know his story.

I was deeply moved by his video. At 14 years old, he showed bravery in sharing his story to the world, recounting how difficult bullying was for him and revealing his struggles with it. I was watching his eyes all throughout the video and saw pain and loneliness.

I did not have to see exactly how he was bullied, what I saw was far worse. I saw how broken he was. No one ever deserves to be treated like that. It's sad. The fact that he couldn't use his voice, and had to come up with flashcards, could the message be any clearer?

I did a little research and was relieved to find out the amount of support Jonah has been getting is overwhelming.

It's a great message of hope for the down-trodden. I can only imagine someone who's going through the same thing he did, taking comfort in the fact that they're not alone. Oppression doesn't have to be an option. One can put his/her voice out there. There's no reason to be alone if only one reaches out, just like Jonah did. Suicide is not the answer.

Jonah is doing very well and is happy.

He's also getting some counseling.

Share Jonah's video with your friends and spread the inspiration.

Life gets better for everyone. You just have to stick to it, and believe.

In Memory of Steve Jobs

A picture of Steve Jobs on an iPad | www.amalgamationspp.com

This one I dedicate to a man who made such a huge difference in our lives.

The hard-driving executive pioneered the concept of the personal computer and of navigating them by clicking onscreen images with a mouse. In more recent years, he introduced the iPod portable music player, the iPhone and the iPad tablet. All of which changed how we consume content in the digital age.

"Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives," Apple said in a statement. "The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."

"Steve Jobs is one of the great innovators in the history of modern capitalism," New York Times columnist Joe Nocera said in August. "His intuition has been phenomenal over the years."

Steve left behind his wife of 20 years, Laurene, and four children, including one from a prior relationship.

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do," he told the Stanford grads in 2005.

"If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on."

Thank you, Steve for all the great things you created making our lives easier, you truly are an inspiration. Rest in peace.

9-11-01 WTC Attack

Today, I join the many who mourn a sight of loss, recasting the painful memories and haunting fears a decade ago that still hover over the aftermath at ground zero of the World Trade Center's twin towers in New York.

Each of us has our own perspective on 9/11, and we have our memories as well as stories of how that day impacted or changed us.

I’ve watched TV specials as well as read articles online, wanting to remember those who suffered, those who lost their lives, and those who sacrificed to try and help. My heart and prayers go out for everyone still suffering from loss of their beloved that day. May all the victims rest in peace.

A Mother's Love

Qinghai-China Earthquake

I do not reblog posts, but I'll make an exception on this one. This story is taken from the web site - www.ourecho.com, also available on many other websites. They claim it to be a true story, but who knows for sure? The only reason I'm sharing this, is for the moral value that can be taken from it.

This is a true story of a mother’s sacrifice during the China earthquake. After the earthquake had subsided, the rescuers reached the ruins of a young woman’s house, they saw her dead body through the cracks. But her pose was somehow strange that she knelt on her knees like a person worshiping; her body was leaning forward, and her two hands were supporting an object. The collapsed house had crashed her back and her head.

With so many difficulties, the leader of the rescuer team put his hand through a narrow gap on the wall to reach the woman’s body. He was hoping that this woman could be still alive. However, the cold and stiff body told him that she had passed away for sure.

He and the rest of the team left the house and were going to search the next collapsed building. For some reason, the team leader was driven by a compelling force to go back to the ruined house of the dead woman. Again, he knelt down and used his hands through the narrow cracks to search the little space under the dead body. Suddenly, he screamed with excitement, "A child! There is a child!" The whole team worked together. Carefully they removed the piles of ruined objects around the dead woman.

There was a 3 months old little boy wrapped in a flowery blanket under his mother’s dead body. Obviously, the woman had made an ultimate sacrifice for saving her son. When her house was falling, she used her body to make a cover to protect her son. The little boy was still sleeping peacefully when the team leader picked him up.

The medical doctor came quickly to exam the little boy. After he opened the blanket, he saw a cell phone inside the blanket. There was a text message on the screen. It said, "If you can survive, you must remember that I love you."

This cell phone was passed around from one hand to another. Everybody that read the message wept. "If you can survive, you must remember that I love you." Such is the mother’s love for her child!
Give your mom and dad a big hug after reading this. They'd do the same for you, for sure.

Last Minutes with Oden

"Oden"

This documentary was about a former addict, Jason Wood, putting down his much loved pooch, Oden. This was his farewell documentary to his best furry friend. It's beautifully shot and pretty much impossible to watch and come out on the other side with dry eyes.

"He showed me through his example how to love..." "Your job here is done, champ."

These words came from knowing his little best friend has indeed changed his life. Is there anything more wrenching than having to put your bestfriend down? I was completely moved and my heart ached for Jason and his best friend Oden. Your job here is done, Oden. Rest in peace.

Loyalty Beyond Life

Jon Tumilson and dog, Hawkeye.

We often hear stories that validate dogs as man's bestfriend. Here's yet another heart-breaking one coming all the way from Rockford, Iowa.

Jon Tumilson, a Navy SEAL, was one of 30 Americans killed in Afghanistan on August 6 when a rocket-propelled grenade took out a U.S. Chinook helicopter. He was mourned at a service in Rockford, Iowa, attended by 1,500 family members, friends and Hawkeye, Tumilson's dog.

The Labrador retriever was an important part of Tumilson's life that friends and family called the dog his "son." When Tumilson's friend Scott Nichols walked to the front of the room to speak, Hawkeye followed. Today.com reports. "As Nichols prepared to memorialize his friend, Hawkeye dutifully laid down near the casket," Scott Stump writes. Hawkeye laid by the casket for the duration of the funeral, keeping a watchful eye on his friend.

Jon's sisters Kristie and Joy describe their brother as someone they always looked up to, and someone who always showed so much strength, courage, determination and selfless love.

Rest in peace. You have paid with the ultimate price to fight for what's right. Thank you for the courage, bravery and inspiration.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Somewhere over the rainbow
way up high
in the land
that I heard of once
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow
skies are blue
and the dreams
that you dare to dream
really do come true

Someday I'll wish upon a star
and wake up
where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
away above the chimney tops
that's where you'll find me

(Instrumental)

Someday I'll wish upon a star
and wake up
where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
away above the chimney tops
that's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
skies are blue
and the dreams
that you dare to dream
really do come true
If happy little bluebirds fly
above the rainbow, why
Oh, why can't I?

Capitulation of My Nation

Friday, June 24, 2011

It is my character to defend the helpless. But when it involves my nation, where do I begin?

We are a poor nation swarmed with corrupt and apathetic officials since the earlier days. And I often ask, "Who's fault is that?"

We change our president every six years, yet that has not uplifted lives of the majority of the Filipinos as a whole. Families are torn apart with parents having to work abroad for their children to survive.

What we have today, is most certainly not the change I'd like to see happen to my country. I'd like to see happy families going out and having picnics on parks on weekends, children healthy and well-educated, their mothers and fathers with them, loving them and caring for them.

I personally think we are not looking close enough for the solution. We can elect presidents, kick them out of office, place another unworthy one in position and as centuries have proven, it will only do so much as having a puppet show for entertainment.

It is important to understand that the key out of this wretched poverty is inside each and every single Filipino in this country. We should not expect that the change we want will come from somebody else. We have to make that happen for ourselves, for our families.

If only everything was that easy. The change needs to come from each one of us, but frustrations and indolence had gripped our nation for many years, our leaders need to have the backbone to change that and mold how we Filipinos think, specially the poor, and teach us the importance of perseverance and hardwork, love of God, love of country and love of family.

As sad as it is, this video proves what Filipinos cannot do if left alone by themselves to think. This is not to say that Filipinos are stupid, but we need a leader who can guide us to our way back, to make us realize we can still stand on our two feet, and make us see the things we can do if we think clearly with both our eyes wide open.

Until that leader grows a backbone, we who are left alone should not keep our eyes shut, our ears covered and our mouths muffled. Perhaps there's no one born to lead this country. Perhaps we have to mold and make the leader we need. The challenge is in each one of us to accept.

Tonight, the Moon Showed Me...

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Out of a random spontaneity, I had the urge to walk out of the house at 12 midnight just to feel the cold December dawn. Have you ever gazed up at the vast night sky long enough to wonder about the magnificent mystery that wraps around the face on the moon? It's bizzare.

Looking up, it felt desolate out there. But knowing there's far greater things beyond the universe, hardly made me feel alone despite the stillness of the night.

Looking up I realized, there's far worse things than the feeling of loneliness. There's a sense of unworthiness, or emptiness, helplessness. And all that sort of went inside me as I breathe in the midnight air. It's overwhelmingly sad.

That's why people always want to be around family specially during this time of the year. Tonight, the moon showed me how it's easy to feel alone, but so much easier to feel insignificant in contrast to it's vast magnificence. You'd think you'd get used to anything. But how do you ever get used to the feeling of emptiness.

You look hard enough, there's more than one face on the moon. You'll see smiling faces of your sisters, your brother, your mom, your whole family. Just watching down on you trying to light your way to make sure you're where you need to be going.

But it's a lonely road.

A Letter to Myself

Monday, September 27, 2010

Dearest Peter Paul,

Aside from the tower fan eerily moving from side to side, everything and everyone else is already fast asleep. It's past 2 a.m. Why did you wake up sweating again?

Are you not going back to sleep? You have work at 7 in the morning.

Oh, so I guess that's it again, huh?

Well, you can't say I wasn't with you all along. Since that time you came back from Manila in March, your self importance and self respect has never been the same. For almost all those times, it had just been you and me. I've seen you get sad, upset until such time you got frustrated, depressed, de-motivated, to now, when you just got too tired to get out of bed in the morning to prepare for work.

For what it's worth, you were there to help build that company from ground zero. You were there to see it lift off successfully. You were there to see it actually do well as a small business. And for some time, that made you happy.

But where are you now? Where has it lead you being always there for your job but your job not being fulfilling for you?

I have lost you.

I barely know you from who you have become.

You became sickly and indolent, pretending to be happy but depressed all these months, bitter. Since when did you become a slave of the job that didn't give you importance and self-respect? Since when did you become so stubborn to stay where you've obviously been so unhappy?

And until when are you going to do this to yourself?

I say, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. I admire your resilience which some people have obviously abused down to the last beating. I admire the fact that through thick nostrils and countless sleepless nights, you go to work late, but still manage to work 9, 10, 15 hours a day, no extra pay required, to do your part in helping the continued success.

But the time to wake up has come. It is rightful that you woke up very early today.

I understand your excitement and enthusiasm to end all that is evil that got in the workplace that has now made everyone look bad. And like you, I am fervently hoping for a positive outcome so that jobs may be kept, precious people may choose to stay and for your self-respect to regain.

Sincerely,

Drought

Saturday, May 1, 2010

So it's been a long while since I last posted an entry that makes sense here.

I have some spare time in my hands these days but can't seem to get that "creative juice" spilling.

It's hard to want to try writing things down when the mind and heart is not into it.

Creative writing after all, is a passion; where the heart and mind run parallel and does not contradict each other.

Super Hot!

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

I came home from work tonight dripping wet!

When is this heat wave gonna end? God help us!

Dear God,

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

You've most likely already read my Facebook status tonight which says, "Peter Paul F. Gil wants to vanish in thin air."

I'm having that moment again, when at the end of the day I'd have to face myself and evaluate the things that happened during the past few days that aren't "pleasant" to say the least.

I choose to stay optimistic through tough times. And I guess that attitude gets easily exploited by some. The going gets too tough sometimes and the pain lingers, unless probably if I just vanished and disappear. It's so sad how things are going.

There are still many things to be thankful for. And I guess it's through tough times like these when I most need a clear mind to make good and sound decisions. Please help me stay humble and give me the strength to carry on.

So please help me, God.

Prayer For Haiti

Thursday, January 21, 2010

I've been very busy at work this week that I haven't even been able to check what's on the news lately.

Haiti is a poor country. How could they ever recover from this tragedy. Say a prayer with me.

"Lay your healing hands on Haiti, Lord. And have mercy."
