Whew!

Wow! This blog layouting and editing is tiresome!

But I guess I can put the layouting to rest now. I'm just waiting for the confirmation from Google adsense and that's it. I'm done with the layout and will now be focusing on my blog entries.

Special thanks to Iniel for the suggestion on my header. That really put off that nice finishing touch nil! Thank you so much.

And to all those who contributed ideas, you know who you are, thank you so much. That was two long days of hard labour. Haha.

I will be going back to work tomorrow after a month's leave. I had to accompany my mom for her medical check up in Manila. She'll hopefully be going back to the U.S.

I'm not sure how things are going to be at the office. I am excited to see everyone. But I've been gone for a month and I'd hate to see my table, topsy turvy. Hopefully Chai2x looked after it. She's an officemate. And she promised to keep my table in order as I had asked her to.

So I guess this is it for now. It's been crazy! But I enormously enjoyed working on my blog. It's been fun!

Calderon Dolphins Killing Festival in Denmark

I thought of Denmark as a lovely country with wonderful people. But this is just completely disappointing, to say the least.

As unbelievable as it is, even today this custom continues, in Dantesque, in the Faroe Islands, Denmark. A country supposedly civilized and seemingly first class. No one does anything to prevent this savagery and cruelty committed against the Calderons, intelligent dolphins that are placid. They approach humans out of friendliness.

First time I saw this I thought it was oil leakage.

Then I looked closer. Hundreds of the famous and intelligent Calderon dolphins lay savagely slaughtered, soaked in their own pool of blood.

This happens every year in Faroe Islands in Denmark . This killings' main participants are young men. It's a tradition, a right of passage for young men entering adulthood.

In this big "celebration" no one is missing the fun. Everyone is participating, killing, or watching the savagery.

The Calderon dolphins, like all other species of dolphins are near extinction. They get near man, to play and interact in a way of pure friendship.

Here, man cut them out with thick hocks. The dolphins produce a grim sound, resembling a cry of a new born child.

He slaughters the calderon with no compassion.

Hundreds are piled, dead.

One final blow to the head.

My heart goes out to these poor, innocent dolphins.

This is a cultural tradition. And while I am not in the position to influence what they should, or should not do, these dolphins are on the brink of extinction. That is a fact that needs to be emphasized. And I think dolphin slaughter transcends cultural issues. It is plain savagery and cruelty most unlike cultural diets and customs such as what we do with cattles or poultries which are not endangered species, neither are they slaughtered for fun or rites of passage.

I fear that we will see many marine species on the extinct list, including these Calderon dolphins if this kind of tradition continues.

Carrie Underwood - Don't Forget To Remember Me

I'm a big American Idol fan and one of my favorites, is Carrie Underwood.

Seriously I thought Bo Bice was a tough contender to beat on the 2005, 4th Season of AI. But Carrie pulled through. I thought we already have too many rockers out there so I'm glad a country singer won.

Her first album, Some Hearts included, "Inside Your Heaven", "Jesus, Take the Wheel", "Don't Forget to Remember Me", "Wasted" and "Before He Cheats".

I wanted to write about this particular song in my blog when I knew how Carrie almost forgot her mom to get her to play the part in the music video. Haha.

It's a lesson learned. Sometimes, for a thing that seems a lot of work to look for, might just be at the tip of the nose.

Suspects have been clearly named. How blatantly brave these murderers can still become? What important messages are they trying to convey?

Why did those 57 people - media people, women and children had to die like that?

Perhaps Love

I don't think there's ever a perfect definition of love, simply because a person's definition of it changes along with time. Personally now, I would define it as, a feeling of closeness with profound care for another.

But that's just me.

In this song, entitled, Perhaps Love, love is defined as how others briefly perceive it. Some definitions are vague, some strong and direct; one of which could be your definition of love too. The beauty of the song lies in the line, "my memories of love, will be of you..."

This John Denver classic is an all-time favorite of many, including me, of course. This one I made was a duet between Jan Smit and Met Paul De Leeuw. I was mystified to read Jan Smit's name written as "John Smit" towards the end of the vid. Sorry about that typo. I should be more careful next time.

For Papa

I wanted to make this my second blog entry simply coz I want to remember my papa who died when I was just 3 years old. He had a car accident and died from internal hemorrhage. I made this video for All Hallows' Eve '09, not just to remind myself that I too had a father once, but also to let everyone who watch it be thankful of their fathers and mothers who are still alive and well.

It's never too late to show love and affection to our parents, living, or in heaven. We have time.
