Tormented by frustration, Derek Redmond | amalgamationspp.com |
Almost two decades after the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the Derek Redmond real life inspiration continues to spread around the world. The first time I saw his video two years ago was tough to watch.
Just like Derek, at some points in our lives, we break our hamstrings, falter and fall to the ground. "But how many of us would actually do what Derek Redmond did?" Would be a good question to ask.
I've gotten around to finally have the time to edit the video, but for the longest time, I wanted to blog about this for the simple truth that I think our whole lifetime is captured within this 4:47 video.
To Derek Redmond and his father, Jim Redmond, you personified the true definition of victory. It's when you persevere through people telling you to stop, not heeding even the most unbearable pain, to reach for that noble end with that one important inspiration in mind and become more than you can be.
Thank you, and may many others emulate your example of perseverance, courage, inspiration and love.
